Statfjord North discovered

The Statfjord North satellite was discovered in January-February 1977 by the Deep Sea Saga rig.

This oil field lies 17 kilometres north of Statfjord in block 33/9. Mobil was operator for the well.

SAR helicopter in place

A search and rescue (SAR) helicopter has been stationed permanently on Statfjord B since 1983 as part of the emergency response organisation.

Norwegian platform manager

Harald N Ynnesdal was the first Norwegian to be appointed as a platform manager on Statfjord. He started work in this post on the B installation on 1 November 1983.
